Hey Shredder Nation!!! It’s been a little over a week since I’ve checked in with you, but I’m back. Been a little busy…And busy coupled with my sleep schedule sometimes adds up to me feeling overwhelmed. And I HATE feeling overwhelmed. So I end up just trying to take a lot of deep breaths to just get through it & I take care of everything else when I can. Being busy can also sometimes mean that I’m not able to follow the Shred program to the letter. That was the case last week. In fact, I was so busy Friday that I didn’t get around to eating a single thing until 7pm. This week isn’t as crazy, so I’m back on track. If you stopped by to hear some weight loss numbers from me, you’re outta luck cuz I haven’t weighed myself in a couple of weeks. I told you on my 1st vlog that I’m not a big fan of stepping on the scale. It really is always a traumatic experience for me…I just can’t deal with it most times. For instance…Week before last, I did extremely well following the Shred program. I mean, I ate healthy, followed all the eating steps & worked out. And for once, I was excited to step on the scale to see my progress. I was like, ‘I think I like this whole eating all my veggies, getting all my nutrients in, drinking lots of water & leading a healthy lifestyle!’ But when I stepped on the scale, it showed that I had GAINED weight! Wait, wha?! Then I started feeling like, ‘Well what was all that eating right, drinking water & exercising for if I’m just gonna end up gaining weight instead of losing it?!’ I’m sure that the weight gain had everything to do with it being that time of month (sorry for the TMI), but the experience was still traumatic for me. I was feeling very positive & motivated BEFORE the scale, then feeling negative & discouraged AFTER the scale. So I just decided right then & there that weighing myself is not a priority. I loved how motivated I was before the scale & I want to keep that positive feeling & motivation, so I I’m not focusing on the scale every week…it’s not happening. To be clear, the only reason I was weighing myself in the 1st place is because Dr. Ian told me to. But the numbers are NEVER important to me. Yes, I do want to continue to lose weight & continue striving for a healthy lifestyle, but as a woman, my weight number fluctuates so much & for so many different reasons that it can be really discouraging if I’m constantly looking at the scale. I’m much more interested in how good I’m feeling & how my clothes are fitting me. Not saying that I’ll never weigh myself again, just saying that I’m not going to be a slave to the scale & I’ll mostly assess my success on the Shred program by how I’m feeling & how I’m looking. That said, there’s good news to report…
About a month ago, I filmed a segment for the Rachael Ray Show with my friend Sunny Anderson where she invited a few friends to her home for brunch. Well that episode aired this past Thursday. Then this past Friday (follow me here, I promise I have a point) the station I work for had a big event in Times Square & I took lots of pictures. My point is…Looking at myself from a month ago on the Rachael Ray Show & looking at myself in the pictures this past weekend, was all the proof I needed that the Shred Program works. I really have made progress. Check out the pics below & see for yourself…
That’s me from a month ago sitting down for brunch on the Rachael Ray Show.
And that picture is from this past Friday. You can clearly see a difference in my face. That doesn’t surprise me because I typically lose weight in the face & chin areas 1st. More proof…
From left to right: that’s Oksana, Sunny, Fiona & me getting ready to make a toast after brunch for the Rachael Ray Show. As you can see, my shirt was hugging my stomach pretty tightly since my stomach was sticking out so much. But this past Friday…
You can clearly see that my stomach isn’t as big as it was a month ago. Success! The proof is in the pictures! The Shred program is really working for me. There are times when my schedule is an obstacle to me following the plan perfectly, but I’m going to try my best to plan my meals & stick to the program as closely as I can because I am very pleased with my success on it so far. I hope that you’re doing well on the program also. And thanks to Dr. Ian for guiding us all on our journey to healthy success! Keep checking back for more blogs
