I recently attended an event at Grand Central Terminal here in New York City for the book “Never Would Have Made It…The Rise of Tyler Perry, the Most Powerful Entertainer in Black America (and What it REALLY Took to Get Him There). The book promises to give you a glimpse into the lives of the many people who sacrificed to establish a platform for Tyler Perry.
I also had the chance to meet the book’s author, Melvin Childs. Melvin was the Executive Producer of Tyler Perry’s first national tour, “I Know I’ve Been Changed”. As an insider at the beginning of the Tyler’s career, Melvin offers his take on the many trials and tribulations that came along with introducing Tyler to the world. I know I’m always fascinated by Tyler Perry’s story and the way he came from humble beginnings, to being named by Forbes as “The Highest Paid Man In Entertainment”. What an incredible & inspiring story! And Melvin’s book gives you a glimpse into part of Tyler’s journey.
